The Proper Treatment of Acne

The treatment of acne has many aspects. Our role with this section is to identify the most important treatment functions in order that those who suffer from acne way know the do’s and don’ts of dealing with this affliction.

Acne may occur anywhere on the body where there are sebaceous glands (most of your body). It most often occurs on the upper torso of your body. This includes your face and back as well as your arms.

The first treatment is to wash the affected area at least twice per day. The washing action should gentle and complete. Washing too hard or scrubbing the area is counter productive. The area should then be rinsed with clear water to remove any excess soap. It is also important to wash and rinse your hands are they may come in contact with the acne.

Hormones trigger the the process that causes acne. Because of that fact, anything that affects your hormone balance should be controlled as carefully as possible. This includes your diet. You need to insure that your diet is well regulated and that it includes fresh vegetables and fresh fruit. Saturated fats and dairy products should be avoided. Consumption of coffee and tea should be reduced.

A regular exercise program is recommended because it aids in keeping your skin clear. That is not to mention all the other benefits of regular exercise. Exercise also reduces stress which is also another factor which causes hormone imbalance.

In those affected areas where you have oily skin, you oil needs to be removed.

Acne Scars – 6 Best Treatments For Acne Scars

Acne affects most people in the world. And while some people recover from it without any consequences, some do get permanent scars. Topical medications can treat some mild scars. Most acne scarring are healed with combined surgical procedures, medications and skin resurfacing. What Causes That Stubborn Scar?
After healing, an acne lesion can leave a red mark or a hyperpigmentation on the skin. This is just a post-inflammatory change and not actually a scar. The redness happens as the skin goes through healing, which usually takes 6-12 months. If no acne sprouts in that particular area, it can heal normally. If it is still present after a year or more, it may be considered a permanent scar.
Acne scars actually are the effects of 2 types of response of the tissues to acne:
(1) Increase of tissue formation
(2) Tissue loss
Acne Scars that are caused by tissue formation are actually the result of a buildup of collagen in the skin. These are most commonly called keloids. Keloids tend to be genetic while scars that are caused by tissue loss are the most common type of acne scars. What Can Help?
Tretinoin can help heal scars. It speeds up the healing and remodeling of the skin. It also assists in the healing of hyperpigmentations. Aplha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA) also helps the remodeling process of the skin. As long as it is appropriately formulated and have the right concentration with the right pH, it will be very effective.
Also, a person should seek treatment for scars either to remove or lighten them. Or maybe the person can include it in the overall procedure of skin rejuvenation.
It is very important for both the patient and the dermatologist to discuss the procedures as to the treatment of acne scars. Choosing a skin rejuvenation process is based partly on the result that the patient wants to accomplish. These are just some of the procedures that dermatologists use to treat acne scars:
1. Chemical peel can treat small to large acne scars and can also be effective when it comes to removing blackheads and whiteheads. Repeated peeling is recommended to improve some extensive or deep scars.
2. Laser or resurfacing of scars is a relatively new technology but can only be effective in some patients. It can be used to treat scars that are complex in nature.
3. Dermabrasion can reach deeper skin layers than a chemical peel.
4. Excision surgery can remove the affected entirely.
5. Soft-tissue augmentation can treat scars that are caused by tissue loss. It involves injections of collagen under the scars which raises them to bring it to the surface.
6. Intralesional steroid injection for keloids on the other hand is a procedure where direct injection is done into the keloid acne scars. It can be mixed with surgery to reduce scar size. This can only be done by a dermatologic surgeon.
It is a good thing that acne scars can be effectively treated nowadays. Now, you can say goodbye to a life with acne.

Using Essential Oils on Acne

Essential oils is the name given to more than 90 pure extracts from various plants. Despite the nomer ‘oil,’ essential oils are not, in fact petroleum products. They can be rubbed on the skin or used in aromatherapy. High quality essential oils are completely derived naturally and won’t clog pores. Because of their cleanliness, many essential oils can be used to help diminish acne.

Two of these oils are tea tree oil and emu oil. Emu oil, however, is not technically an essential oil, as it is derived from an animal. The emu is a mainly flightless bird originating mainly in Australia. The indigenous people of Australia, the Aborigines, use emu oil for its healing and restorative effects, particularly with regard to joint pain. Today, however, emu oil is used for a variety of purposes, one of those is to lessen the problem of acne.

Because emu oil is non-greasy and won’t clog pores, it makes a good skin moisturizer and softener. Lotion, no matter how ‘clean’ it is can still clog pores. Emu oil does the same job, but without the gunk that can cause acne.

Tea tree oil is another good choice for use on acne. This essential oil helps heal scars and won’t clog pores. Like other essential oils, tea tree oil can also be used for aromatherapy, soothing, even as it reduces acne. Common tea tree oil and New Zealand tea tree oil are the two common forms. The sent is balsamic and woody. The New Zealand variety has a warmer, earthier aroma.

Essential oils can be combined, and emu oil is an excellent carrier of essential oils, including tea tree oil. A combination of emu and tea tree oils can give softer, moisturized skin with a pleasant smell—all while reducing acne.

To my surprise I enjoyed this change in diet and in a short time I felt like it was an acne cure that was noticeable with in the week.

My mother was happier that I was eating something besides chips and was also happy with what we thought was an acne cure. She was also happy that she did not have to spend a lot of money on acne medications or worry about which over the counter acne products were the best. Who would have thought when I drank naturally sweetened juices and lots of water that it would be a natural acne treatment. Seven Step Acne Cure

Curing acne is nothing else but a matter of concern and consciousness. In most cases the tendency to ignore at the primary stage calls for the further damage. If you take the initiative to block the growth of the cane on your skin when it is a mere microcomedo or a blackhead, the problem can be easily resolved without wastage of time and money. Moreover you are saved from pain and severity of the disease.
To cure acne you have to understand both the internal and external functioning of the body because the hormones are responsible for the acne growth. Unless you are protected from within you cannot keep safe externally. This is the key aspect of the acne treatment.
The seven step acne cure method gives you a brief idea how to protect your skin from acnes and based on common habit that must be practiced by all of us. The first thing you need to stop is scratching or pinching the pimple. Though there might be inflammation and an irresistible urge to pop the pimple yet you have to overcome it. Use an anti-acne ointment for relief.
The simplest way is to wash the face regularly as many times you feel like just with water. The natural refreshment technique is actually the key rule for skin protection from acnes. Use face washes only the gel types but this is restricted only to be used twice or thrice daily. Begin the day with the wash and apply the same before you slip inside the bed. This protects your skin and stops the acne to react with bacteria and thus inhibits any type of infection.
Oily skins are more prone to acne. Hence you must apply some kind of medicated oil-free concealer. This helps is drying up the pimples and even in scorching heat it checks your sweating tendency.
Apply facial masks on regular basis. Consult the dermatologist or good beauticians who can refer you what type of masks are to be used. For example mud masks are best suitable for oily skin and this keeps the skin tightened by removing acne, also retains the perfect balance of texture and radiance.
Benzoyl peroxide ointments are considered to be the perfect acne cure balm. But you must very well know the specific usage of the cream with the guidance from a doctor. Sometimes using it for a greater number of times becomes boomerang.
If hormonal pills are required, don’t hesitate to consume them to maintain the level of hormonal secretion in your body. But of course this cannot be self-treatment. Thus your consciousness matters to keep your skin free from acne.

Acne Cures – Do They Work for You.

To many of us, especially teenagers, with sexual stirrings under way, and hormones racing in directions never before experienced, acne can potentially be the biggest downer known to either sex.

What bigger agony than to be getting ready to go to a Summer Ball, only to find a row of red prominent zits appearing all over our face?

It can make you feel worse inside than you actually look. Many shy and embarrassed youngsters between the ages of twelve and twenty four suffer from acne in some form or another. It’s uncomfortable and embarrassing, although not strictly life threatening. Boys tend to fall victim to it more than girls at the onset of puberty, probably because of the increased level of the hormone testosterone in the body. Acne is generally caused by bacteria filling up clogged pores, resulting in zits breaking out.

The zits usually spread over the face, back, shoulders, chest and neck. Some doctors think it may be hereditary. There is a whole industry dedicated to finding cures for acne, and there is a plethora of advice when it comes to supposed acne cures.

To some people, the acne condition seems so bad to them emotionally, they seek medical help and advice from their own doctor, or even specialist dermatologists to try and find a cure. Some sufferers use over the counter treatments, some have prescription treatments and others prefer to use natural methods. There is a lot of anecdotal promotion of the merits of one treatment or another and it all gets very confusing. You just have to see which acne cures work for you and it may be a case of trial and error. There are some experts who say there is no such thing as a cure and that you should disregard such claims. One thing is for certain with that advice – if you can grin ( and hide the zits) then you will certainly save your pockets with all the ‘Quack’ cures that do the rounds every year. In fact, it is a superb market to be in, as every year, and constant stream of newcomers march in search of a cure for acne.

Whatever the claims and counter claims of different sorts of treatment, prevention is certainly preferable to acne cures. It’s definitely worth a try, as most prevention stems around eating habits and cleanliness. Attention to diet is important and avoiding fried fatty foods (sorry – burgers and chips or fries are definitely out while the zits are popping all around your mouth, also with refined and processed foods in general is a good start. Also, try to cut down on caffeine, alcohol, soft drinks and tobacco. I know, just the stuff you are starting to survive on!

Eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, and drink plenty water. Eating irregularly can cause constipation and this can promote acne because the toxic material has to break out somewhere.

It may not be possible to prevent the acne but you may be able to lessen its effects. If all measures fail, it’s time to decide on which of the acne cures to try. There are numerous gels, lotions, creams and solutions on the market. Benzyl Peroxide is a common ingredient in over the counter medications and some people have found that it works very well, especially when combined with regular cleansing and moisturizing. Other acne cures are antibiotics, salicylic acid and sulfur.

Unfortunately, some of these so-called cures can leave a strange smell lingering around the sufferer’s face, so they get hit two ways socially. You should always ask a good friend to check if any sulfer based products for instance are causing any lingering whiffs.

For other people, they prefer to try remedies that work from the inside, and prefer to try vitamins or natural herbal remedies. You can find all of these easily available as acne cures. Vitamin A and Niacin is recommended, and also Zinc tablets. There are a number of home remedies that you could try.

Some sufferers apply orange peel crushed with water or lemon juice. Another acne cure is coriander or mint juice mixed with a little bit of turmeric powder. Others apply grated cucumber leaves or crushed garlic cloves. You could also try an overnight face mask made from mashed up fenugreek leaves, to be washed off when you wake next day. Tea Tree Oil is said to be another acne cure. You can also bathe in a soothing hot tub of Epsom Salts.

Whichever method you decide to use, don’t undo the benefits of your acne cures by picking at the skin. Also, don’t make it worse by scrubbing at the acne with any harsh material. Be kind to yourself! And don’t, whatever you do, take part in the messy ritual of squeezing the extra large zits.

Tea Tree Oil Zit Rescue

One of the most uses of tea tree essential oil is in the treatment of skin disorders. Acne is a very common disease involving the sebaceous glands. It affects about 90% of men and women at some point during their lives.
In 1990, one of Australia’s leading dermatologists carried out an acne study at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney comparing 5% benzoyl peroxide and 5% tea tree essential oil. Both agents performed equally as well in reducing the acne, with tea tree oil having a slightly slower effect. However, comparing the two agents, tea tree oil had significantly less side effects, suggesting more frequent application and higher concentration is possible.
People with acne tend to excrete more sebaceous lipids onto the surface of the skin than unaffected people. In combination with normally shed dead skin cells, this may lead to clogging of the pores. Bacterial (propionibacterium acnes) infection is another component of acne. A clogged hair follicle becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. This can result in redness and puss-filled bumps (the dreaded zit).
Topical treatment is difficult because the medicine needs to penetrate the skin in sufficient concentration, and be strong enough not to be inactivated by the presence of blood and puss. But it also has to be gentle enough to not cause irritation. Tea tree essential oil dissolves pus and kills bacteria, leaving the area clean and tissue undamaged.
Other interesting uses of tree tea oil:
- The tea tree has been used by the Bundjalung Aborigines in Australia for centuries to heal wounds, burns, and infections.
- The plant has antiseptic properties, as well as being a germicide, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, immune-boosting, cleanser/disinfectant. Its oil is unusual in that it is effective against all three types of infectious organisms: bacteria, viruses and fungi.
- When applied to cuts, burns or bruises, it can lessen pain, speed healing and reduce inflammation.
- A few drops can be added to bath water to soothe tight muscles, and the warm steam can help to clear congestion from lungs and sinuses.
- Tea tree essential oil is widely used in massage by aromatherapists to boost the immune system.
- A one percent solution in laundry water kills dust mites which is a common cause of asthma in many people.
Tea tree is tolerated by most when applied directly without the use of a dilutant. Some individuals may be sensitive to tea tree, so always do a patch test before using anything new on your body.
Note: tea tree essential oil can be dangerous if swallowed. As little as 5 ml can be toxic to a small child, so it’s important to keep it out of reach of children.
